What is the difference between ceramic fiber cotton and rock wool?

Both ceramic fiber wool and rock wool have high temperature resistance, and can also be applied to single crystal furnace, metallurgical casting, petroleum cracking and space technology, ablation resistance, high temperature resistant insulation materials; sound absorbing materials for construction and equipment, thermal insulation materials. So what is the difference between the two?

First, the production process of ceramic fiber loose cotton is high-purity clay clinker, alumina powder, silica powder, chrome sand and other raw materials in the industrial electric furnace at high temperature to form a fluid. Then, it is blown by compressed air or twisted into a fiber shape by a twisting machine, and cotton is collected through a cotton collector to form ceramic fiber cotton. Fiber cotton can be further processed into fiber blankets, boards, paper, cloth, rope and other products. Ceramic fiber is a kind of high-efficiency thermal insulation material with light weight, high strength, oxidation resistance, low thermal conductivity, good flexibility, corrosion resistance, small heat capacity and sound insulation.

Rock wool is an inorganic fiber made of natural rocks such as basalt, gabbro, dolomite, iron ore, bauxite, etc., which are melted at high temperature and fibrillated. The fiber can be processed into various products such as plates, tubes, felts and belts. It should be used for building and industrial equipment, pipes, kiln insulation, fire prevention, sound absorption, earthquake resistance and so on. Rock wool board, rock wool tube, rock wool felt.

Second, the performance difference ceramic fiber cotton has a longer life, greater fiber toughness, ceramic fiber cotton has a lower thermal conductivity, and the use of temperature ceramic fiber cotton is the highest temperature above 1000 degrees, commonly used 1050 and Model 1230, while rock wool is used at temperatures up to 600 degrees.

Third, the use of different ceramic fiber cotton can be insulated at 200 degrees low temperature, can also do 500 degrees of medium temperature insulation, can also do 1000 degrees of fire insulation, and rock wool is generally used for insulation of about 500 degrees. Mostly used for heat pipe or electrical equipment and other aspects of insulation.
